Industrial Physics needed a technology partner to improve their existing WordPress website, launch their first online store to sell directly to the public and integrate with their ERP system.
As this was a site takeover we started with a code audit of the existing Industrial Physics website and implemented some remedial work to ensure the code base was running smoothly, up to date and secure.
From here, we conducted a detailed discovery session to get a full understanding of what Industrial Physics wanted to achieve. We then created a statement of work to fully detail and prioritise all requirements and deliverables, to ensure there is 100% clarity before development begins. The development started with styling for the product and category listings pages, before moving onto the specific technical elements below.
The site already had the ability to show in multiple languages so we used the WPML plugin to apply multiple currencies in line with those languages / countries.
Changing the country setting on the site switches the language and currency, and applies other content changes as needed for each country i.e. country specific price lists, payment options, etc.
To ensure the site experience was seamless across countries, we implemented a Geo IP based switcher which would automatically select the correct country (language, currency, price list, payment options, etc) depending on the country the visitor was located in.
We implemented a sleek new checkout using the WooCommerce checkout and WooPay payment gateway.
WooCommerce provides a very smooth checkout journey and with WooPay being native to WooCommerce, the payment gateway integration is seamless and ideal for the user.
We also wrote a custom product import to bring ecommerce product information into the site, such as pricing, Salesforce identifiers / data and product weights and dimensions which were used in the shipping cost calculations.
A key part of the project was seamless integration of UPS shipping within WooCommerce. This integration automates WooCommerce orders by displaying real-time UPS shipping rates on the cart and checkout page, printing UPS shipping labels and paying postage from within the WooCommerce store and sending UPS tracking details to customers by email.
Salesforce CRM integration was a critical project element for Industrial Physics.
The real-time order generation, maintenance of stock inventory counts, synchronisation of users and bi-directional synchronisation of categories & products ensured both WooCommerce and Salesforce CRM maintained real time accuracy.
