Core Web Vitals Audit

Unlock the potential of your website’s true speed with our Core Web Vitals audit.

Improve your site speed

Since the start of 2020, Google has rolled out the Core Web Vitals report into Google Search Console (GSC); effectively replacing the previous speed report.

In addition to many of the previous metrics, the report also shows various new metrics that website owners need to be familiar with going forward.

These metrics are referred to as Core Web Vitals, and provide website owners with thresholds and acceptable limits for site speed and usability in order to give their audience the best possible experience.

What are Core Web Vitals?

More than ever, Google’s focus now seems to be on providing a top quality user experience.  Core Web Vitals’ aim is to provide guidelines and quality signals for website owners to ensure their site meets the modern needs of users.

Of course, this is all common sense. By providing the best experience for your users on your website, you can reap the rewards of more visitors and actions on your site, whether that’s through sales, leads or enquiries

The set of metrics from 2020 onwards, splits out the user experience into three facets: loading, interactivity and visual stability. There are additionally a set of thresholds for acceptable levels of delay for each.

Essential Core Web Vital elements

As more data is collected on website performance, there’s no telling how many metrics will be interred into the Core Web Vitals pack in the future.

However, for now, we focus on 3 main areas as part of our Core Web Vitals audit:

Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): measures loading performance. To provide a good user experience, LCP should occur within 2.5 seconds of when the page first starts loading.

First Input Delay (FID): measures interactivity. To provide a good user experience, pages should have a FID of less than 100 milliseconds.

Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): measures visual stability. To provide a good user experience, pages should maintain a CLS of less than 0.1.
